About

Graham Spencer Carr, also known professionally as Zab Spencer, is a Trinidadian music producer, audio engineer, and Steelpan practitioner working internationally.

He began playing Steelpan at the age of 11 with the Starlift Steel Orchestra. His relationship to the instrument is grounded in lived practice and sustained involvement within the Steelpan tradition.

Graham comes from a lineage closely connected to the cultural history of Trinidad and Tobago. He is the grandson of Andrew Thomas Carr, a folklorist and cultural historian whose work was central to the documentation of carnival, calypso, and African heritage traditions. He is also the nephew of Joslynne Carr-Sealey, a respected musician, educator, and panorama judge known for pioneering work bridging classical music and Steelpan.

Professionally, Graham has worked across recording, post-production, film, and cultural institutions in Trinidad and Tobago and internationally. His work includes album remastering, immersive audio, documentary and cinematic sound, and official Steelpan recording and archiving initiatives.

Based in London, Graham works with Steelpan ensembles, audio institutions, and music industry partners internationally. He is a member of the Recording Academy and a Grammy® voting member.
